The 1440 round consists of 144 arrows. 36 arrows are shot at each of 4 distances shown in the table below as D1-D4. Under certain conditions the distances can also be shot in the reverse order (from shorter to longer).
For the long distance rounds (D1 and D2) the 122cm target face is used for all categories. When it comes to the shorter distances (D3 and D4) the target faces changes to the 80cm 6-ring target face (World Championships 2013), except for (a) The Sanaa Recurve Limited category where the full 80cm target face will be used for D3 and D4 and (b) The Sanaa Standard Bow categories who will remain on the 122cm target face for D3 and D4.
Junior An athlete may participate in a Junior Class in tournaments when the competition takes place up to and in the year of their 20th birthday. For example, if you are turning 20 on 2 January, you will be entitled to shoot as a junior until the 31st December of that year. If you are turning 20 on the 30th December, then on 1 January of the new year you would move into the senior class.
Cadets An athlete may participate in a Cadet Class in tournaments when the competition takes place up to and in the year of their 17th birthday.
Masters An athlete may participate in the Master class in the year they turn 50
The table below illustrates the distances shot by category. Where an Age is shown, it is the maximum age in that year that the archer can compete in that category (see the example above). The minimum age only applies to the Master class which is in the year that the archery turns 50 years old. D1-D4 are the 1440 round distances with D1-D2 being the long distances and D3-D4 being the short distances. The 720 round is normally shot in two rounds, both at the same distance. The IQS is the Indoor Qualification Score required for National Colours and the OQS is the Outdoor Qualification Score for National Colours. In the case of National Colours, there are specific formulas and other requirements that need to be met.
